Nerja Spain has nine sandy beaches stretching to over 16 kilometers in total. Many of the beaches are within easy reach of the town.
Playa del Chorrillo is a very secluded beach which is hard to get toodue to the footpath being temporarily blocked off due to cliff erosion. If walk from Playa Calahonda you can sometimes find this beach empty and enjoying total privacy. There are no restaurants or facilities here like the other Nerja beaches, but still it's an great beach to get away from the bustling summer crowds.
Playa Burriana is definitely the most popular beach in Nerja. It is a large beach with many activities to enjoy, windsurfing, paddleboats, volley ball, fishing, swimming, snorkeling etc. This is an excellent beach to spend days and days soaking up the sun. There are many apartments and villas within walking distance making this area of Nerja ideal for those not wanting to hire a car.
Playa La Caletilla is directly at the West side of the Balcon de Europa in the heart of Nerja. Directly behind the beach is the Hotel Balcon de Europa were you can enjoy a light lunch in their restaurant. This is popular little beach as it's sheltered in a cove and has pure sand, giving easy access to the water.
Playa Calahonda is directly at the East side of the Balcon de Europa in the heart of Nerja. This is one of the most pictureque beaches and most photographed. Easily accessible from the Balcon with steps leading down to the beach. Fishermen still repair their nets and go fishing from this beach. You can hire sunbeds and parasols for shade, also their is a beach restaurant for drinks and snacks.
Playa del Salon is another popular beach for many, gaining easy access from a pathway directly at the Balcon de Europa in the heart of Nerja. There are a number of beach bars and cafes along the beach. Plaza del Salon has one of the best sandiest beaches in the area. You can walk along to Playa La Caletilla and round to the Balcon.
Playa Carabeillo is situated on the East side of Nerja next to the famous BurrianaBeach. The beach is within easy access of the Mirador del Bendito having steps leading down to the beach. A mixture of sand and small shingle. There is a beach bar/cafe high on the cliff next to the step leading to the beach. This is a very busy beach in the summer months, due to it's position and easy access. Parking available in the nearby car parks.
Playa El Playazo is situated on the West side of Nerja. It is a large beach where many enjoy windsurfing and sail-surfing along the sandy waters. There are a few beach bars and at the end of the beach is the Marinasde Nerja Hotel.
Playa del Maro is a very popular and yet secluded beach. Only about 1.5km from Nerja it easily accessible by road, as there is a roadway leading down to the beach. The waters are protected as a marine national park, so many people enjoy snorkeling here. There is a small cafe/restaurant here, and an ideal place to get away from the bustling crowds of Summer.
